The dense purple-colored, gamy 2009 Cornas Chante Perdrix offers up scents of duck confit intermixed with notions of burning embers, black fruits, new saddle leather and savage animal-like notes. There is extraordinary intensity and abundant tannin, but enough fruit to balance out the wine's structure. It should drink nicely for 10-15 years.
