In 1977, the Vandendriessche family ventured to revive White Rock where a
vineyard and winery had been originally established by Dr. J.
Pettingill all the way back in 1870! Today, under the guidance of
Christopher, the family's eldest son, the estate produces some of the
most interesting wines that continue to escape the notice of even the
most devoted California wine aficionados. Could this be because the
winery off the beaten path or that Chris is simply just to darn humble?
Regardless, since he probably would not do it himself, we wanted to let
you know that Chris is regularly enlisted by the likes of California
wine-making legends, Lee Hudson of Hudson Vineyards and John Kongsgaard,
to assist them in the production of some of California's most sought
after, critically acclaimed Chardonnays.
This vintage is crisp and floral with medium body and very complex. The nose has grapefruit, lemon and tea aromas with just a hint of oak and butterscotch. Citrus in the mouth with some red currant fruit and beautiful balancing acidity. The end is flavorful and refreshing. Very versatile with food.
